Projects we have funded

Qualitative research exploring public perceptions of the Armed Forces and veterans. This project forms the qualitative half of a larger project with MOD who funded the quantitative perceptions survey.

In November 2016, FiMT partnered with St George’s House to deliver a consultation to explore how transition is approached and managed in different settings and sectors. These transitions were examined from three different perspectives: of the individual experiencing the change; the network of family and friends around the individual; and wider societal stakeholders.

A three-year evaluation of The Veterans' Advocacy People Service. The evaluation will be undertaken by SERIO, the research and intelligence division of Plymouth University.

A research project (in partnership with NatCen) to explore how organizations, excluding Local Authorities and Government departments, are delivering pledges under the Armed Forces Covenant in Great Britain.

Sponsorship of the 2019 Working Together Award which honours a person, team or organisation that has demonstrated an enduring commitment and a collaborative approach, engaging with external organisations to support the sector within the wider community.

A new guide launched on 7th June 2018, to help care homes provide better support for the hundreds of thousands of service men and women in assisted living in the UK. Produced by Demos think tank, in partnership with the Forces in Mind Trust and the Care Cluster of Cobseo (The Confederation of Service Charities), the guide will be sent to all UK care homes and care home provider headquarters.

In partnership with Clore Social Leadership, Cobseo and FiMT, the Cobseo Emerging Leader Programme aims to support emerging leaders in the Service charities sector, Clore Social seeks to develop a cadre of leaders to provide robust and effective leadership for their organisations and sector. FiMT have funded the programme from 2018 to 2020.

A 3-year project to engage with decision makers in statutory and third sector organisations across Scotland and to inform them about the ex-Service community and those in transition.

A 3-year project to extend and develop the Armed Forces Charities project, including a fully redeveloped website (www.armedforcescharities.org), 6 themed reports, and an updated edition of the “Sector Insight” report.

VFR Hub provides an online knowledge repository of military, veterans and families research, resources and literature, which is free at point of access, and enables users to search for research, researchers, institutions, communities of interest, collaborative opportunities, and raise queries/write posts.
