VFR Hub provides an online knowledge repository of military, veterans and families research, resources and literature, which is free at point of access, and enables users to search for research, researchers, institutions, communities of interest, collaborative opportunities, and raise queries/write posts.

In partnership with Lord Ashcroft and Anglia Ruskin University, FiMT funded a Veterans’ Research Hub (VFR Hub) Project Director post for a 2-year period to manage the construction of a new online knowledge repository of military, veterans and families research, resources and literature. The new FiMT Research Centre was launched in September 2017, together with a re-brand of the VFR Hub to incorporate families, so becoming the Veterans and Families Research Hub (VFR Hub).

The FiMT Research Centre’s scope is broader, providing a UK-based research-enabling and production facility that will develop and strengthen links between the academic community, government organisations, statutory and voluntary service providers, the media, and the public (including the Armed Forces Community). This involves:

a) Curation and management of the VFR Hub

b) Provision of advice and support

c) Production of specified research outputs

d) Planning and management of an annual conference and awards
