Our funding process
We have a robust and insightful awarding process, and we respond to unsolicited applications for grant awards, issue our own calls for work, and directly commission research.
Our application process follows a two-stage approach, an initial application stage and a full application stage. The two-stage process allows grant seekers to learn whether their work might be fundable by FiMT without having to spend too much time on the preparation of a full application, which we appreciate can be time-consuming for many organisations.
See our funding timeline at the bottom of the page to see what happens after you submit your application.
How we make decisions
We assess every application carefully to understand how well it aligns with our funding priorities and the difference it could make for the Armed Forces community.
We consider:
- the quality of the proposal
- the evidence supporting the approach
- whether the organisation has the skills, experience and partnerships needed to deliver the work successfully
- how each proposal complements our existing portfolio of funded work
- whether it represents the best use of our resources in helping us achieve our strategic aims
