A grant award by FiMT enabled TRBL to double the survey size of a piece of its recently published Household Survey which was launched in November 2014.

Impact

The Household survey was the first and largest survey to cover the ex-Service community and has helped to improve the understanding of the profile of serving and ex-Service personnel and their needs, as well as dispelling certain myths about veterans.

The report was used to inform The Royal British Legion’s service planning, policy development and service delivery and was also used by the wider charity sector. A bespoke version of the report for Scotland was published by Poppyscotland, the Legion’s sister charity, and the data was used by other organizations to produce an analysis of their beneficiary community and to inform the design and delivery of welfare services. The survey has also been used help inform government in identifying key areas of interest in the Annual Population Survey.
