At FiMT, we are committed to acting with integrity, accountability, and respect in all that we do. We aim to maintain the highest standards of conduct and to create a culture in which concerns are welcomed, handled appropriately, and acted upon constructively.

Complaints

Grant awards

We are unable to accept complaints about a rejected grant application. We understand that it can be disappointing if your application has been turned down but our complaints process cannot be used to appeal against an award decision.

Interaction or service

If you wish to make a formal complaint about an interaction or service provided by FiMT, please visit our External Complaints Policy page. Our complaints procedure is designed to address dissatisfaction with outcomes or processes. If, however, you believe there has been misconduct or a safeguarding issue, this “Raising a Concern” route is more appropriate.

Raising a Concern

We encourage anyone who interacts with FiMT — including grant holders, partners, contractors, staff, volunteers, or members of the public — to raise concerns if they believe:

  • There has been misconduct or unethical behaviour, including fraud, bribery, corruption, or conflicts of interest.
  • There has been discrimination, bullying, harassment, or victimisation.

Please contact us if you have any genuine concern, even if you do not have evidence.

How to Raise a Concern

If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to raise the matter informally at first. For example, by speaking to your usual contact at FiMT. However, if this is not appropriate or you remain concerned, you can raise your concern more formally via one of the following routes:

Contact the Operations & Governance team
You can use this form to share your concern with us confidentially.
Your concern will be directed to the appropriate member of the team to handle sensitively and appropriately.

If you prefer to raise the concern in writing, please address it to:

What Will Happen Next

  • Your concern will be acknowledged within ten working days.
  • We will assess the nature of your concern and determine the appropriate next steps.
  • Where necessary, an investigation will be initiated. You may be asked to provide further information.
  • We will treat your concern with confidentiality and sensitivity, and keep you informed of progress where appropriate.
  • If the concern falls outside of our remit, we will advise you on where to direct it.

Anonymity and Confidentiality
You may choose to raise a concern anonymously. However, providing your name and contact details can help us investigate more effectively and keep you informed. We will always aim to maintain confidentiality and handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy.

Further Support
If you feel your concern has not been addressed appropriately by FiMT, you may escalate it to the Charity Commission or other appropriate regulator.
