The report focuses on the difference FiMT’s work helped to make during 2025. It shows how evidence has informed national policy discussions, influenced the design and delivery of services, and strengthened collaboration between government, local authorities, charities, researchers and other organisations.

The report explores four central themes:

  • Strengthening systems through collaboration and convening
  • Driving a whole-family approach
  • Ensuring the evidence base reflects the whole community
  • Reframing transition as a holistic, through-career process

Highlights include work that strengthened delivery of the Armed Forces Covenant, promoted greater awareness of families’ experiences of Service life and transition, and encouraged more collaborative work to build stronger and more joined-up systems of support for the Armed Forces community.

FiMT’s evidence was put into action in 2025, informing work supporting former Service personnel at the Department for Work and Pensions, enhancing employment schemes for former Service women, and building up the strength of the Covenant delivery in local authorities. That action is key to the continued growing successes in improving transition in the Armed Forces community.
